Kenny Chesney, shown performing at what was then Miller Park in 2018, will play the stadium, now called American family Field, on June 22.

On June 22, live-music lovers in Milwaukee can choose between the Big Gig and a really big stadium gig.

American Family Field favorite Kenny Chesney and Summerfest regulars Zac Brown Band, who sold out the American Family Insurance Amphitheater for this year's festival, are coming to the Milwaukee Brewers ballpark June 22 — which is also the first Saturday of Summerfest 2024.

In years past, Fiserv Forum and Alpine Valley Music Theatre have hosted concerts opposite Summerfest. But this is the first time American Family Field will have a show, expected to draw about 40,000 people, on the same day as one of America’s largest and oldest music festivals.

Zac Brown Band, shown headlining Summerfest June 23, will return to Milwaukee next June, on a bill with Kenny Chesney opposite Summerfest at American Family Field.

And those aren’t the only major live-music events happening in the area June 22. The hip-hop heavy Tacos and Tequila Festival will return to Franklin Field for a second year, with Ludacris and Ashanti leading the lineup.

Chesney, who frequently brings his stadium tours to American Family Field, including one last year, is also bringing Megan Moroney and Uncle Kracker on his 18-city “Sun Goes Down” stadium tour this summer, kicking off April 20 in Tampa and wrapping up Aug. 23 in the Boston area.

Tickets for the Milwaukee show go on sale at 10 a.m. Nov. 17 at brewers.com. Prices have yet to be announced.

With the Chesney announcement, American Family Field is now tied with this year for the most Milwaukee stadium concerts planned in a single year, including two shows with Luke Combs in April and a Green Day stadium tour date next August.

A Summerfest headliner has yet to be announced for June 22 at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater, but four others have: Kane Brown June 20, Mötley Crüe June 21, Tyler Childers June 28 and Keith Urban June 29.
