7 events this week to celebrate Halloween in Milwaukee

Most trick-or-treating in the Milwaukee area already took place over the weekend, but there are still many fun and interesting Halloween events in and around the city to celebrate the conclusion of the haunted season on Monday and Tuesday.

Here are seven to check out:

Social X MKE 'Tech or Treat' networking and costume party

Social X MKE seeks to provide social, networking and exercise opportunities for Millennials and Gen-Zers in the Milwaukee area. Social X is marking the end of Wisconsin Tech Month with a rooftop Halloween party at Nō Studios on Monday. General admission is free; reserve a ticket online.

"Join us on the rooftop of Nō Studios for a spooktacular night of networking and dancing with techs in disguise!" Social X says. "Costumes encouraged, but optional. Music by DJ Dub Deezy."

Scary Clown Chase at Accelerate Indoor Speedway and Events

Accelerate Indoor Speedway and Events/Accelerate Axe Throwing in Waukesha offers the perfect opportunity for some turbo-charged terror. At Accelerate's Scary Clown Chase event, creepy clowns chase go-kart drivers around the track.

Here's how Accelerate describes it: "Getting chased by a scary clown is the stuff of nightmares. Now, imagine a character as intimidating as Pennywise, the Joker, Sweet Tooth, or any other horrifying harlequin or petrifying Pulcinella with scary speed behind the wheel of a go-kart chasing anyone who is brave enough or fast enough to elude him for 14 laps."

Shaker's Cigar Bar, 422 S 2nd St., has three levels of patios. The lowest level patio, on the second floor of the building, has heaters for guests to sit around.

Shaker's 'Halloween Blowout Bash' with Professor Pinkerton

Here's one for the grown-ups. Shaker's Cigar Bar is hosting its annual "Halloween Blowout Bash" Tuesday night.

Festivities will include live music by vaudeville entertainer Professor Pinkerton and a Halloween costume contest. Contest winners will receive a free trip for two to Los Angeles and two tickets to City of Angels Dark Tours, a true crime and macabre tour company.

Learn about 'Decline, Decay, & Death of the Universe' at the Milwaukee Public Museum

The Milwaukee Public Museum is celebrating Halloween Tuesday with a special exhibit tour exploring the "causes, practices, beliefs, and unexpected stories of death from different cultures around the world and through history."

After the tour, museum-goers are invited to visit the Dome Theater for a show about space death.

"See how the Earth will slowly incinerate about a billion years from now," the museum says. "Watch the Sun swell into a red giant and become an iridescent, ghostly nebula. Discover the demise of all stars as they finally cave in!"

'True Crime in the Midwest' with John Borowski

Author and filmmaker John Borowski will present the chilling stories of America's infamous Midwestern serial killers at the free "Unveiling the Dark Heartland" event at the Hales Corners Public Library on Halloween night.

Borowski's films and books focus on notorious killers ranging from cannibal Albert Fish to one of America's earliest serial killers, H.H. Holmes.

Borowski's special Halloween presentation will take place in-person in the library's Ben Hunt room and will also be available live online via Zoom. Due to the subject matter, the event is for people ages 16 and older.

Halloween movies in the sand at Fat Daddy's

Fat Daddy's, the popular Walker's Point sand volleyball spot and bar, is hosting a double-feature Halloween movie night in the sand Tuesday night.

Disney's 1993 film "Hocus Pocus" will play from 7 to 9 p.m., and the 2023 horror film "Evil Dead Rise" will play from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m.

This is a free event, but VIP packages can be purchased for $25. VIP packages include one blanket for sitting on the sand, two specialty cocktails and popcorn.

Halloween karaoke at Landmark Lanes

Landmark Lanes bowling alley is hosting a special Halloween edition of its Moon Room Karaoke on Tuesday night.

Here's what Landmark says about the event: "Spend your Halloween night at Landmark Lanes with a special edition of Moon Room Karaoke! The spooky fun starts at 9 p.m., followed by a special costume contest at 10 p.m. Sing, yell, or scream your favorite tunes while showing off your Halloween looks and enjoying some killer drink specials all night."
