Denver Broncos at Los Angeles Chargers odds, picks and predictions

The Denver Broncos (6-6) face the Los Angeles Chargers (5-7) Sunday in Week 14 NFL action. Kickoff at SoFi Stadium is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Broncos vs. Chargersodds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Broncos had their 5-game winning streak snapped in Week 13 against the Houston Texans 22-17, failing to cover the 3-point spread as the Under  47 hit. QB Russell Wilson threw 3 interceptions, but did rush for a TD. No Broncos running back rushed for over 50 yards. Denver allows the most rushing yards per game in the NFL, but held the Texans to just 89.

Los Angeles broke their 3-game losing streak with a 6-0 victory in Week 13 over the New England Patriots. They covered the 4.5-point spread, but  obviously went Under the 38.5-point total. RB Austin Ekeler struggled to move the ball against the Patriots, rushing for just 18 yards on 14 carries. The Chargers could only manage 2 K Cameron Dicker field goals but it was enough to get the win in New England.

These 2 teams last met on Jan. 8 with the Broncos winning 31-28 in Denver while the Chargers covered the spread as a 6-point underdog and the Over (38.5) hit.

Broncos at Chargers picks and predictions

Prediction

Broncos 27, Chargers 17

Moneyline

BET BRONCOS (+126).

After a terrible start to the season, the Broncos have turned things around in a big way. It took new coach Sean Payton a few weeks to get this team to buy into his way while I do believe the Chargers know how to win under coach Brandon Staley. They have squandered so many games because of awful decision making.

Staley was the defensive coordinator for the Rams before getting this job and his defense with the Chargers is putrid. They allow the 2nd-most passing yards and 3-plus passing TDs per game on the season.

Denver starts a new winning streak in Week 14.

Against the spread

BET BRONCOS +2.5 (-104).

If I like Denver on the moneyline, I'll obviously take them getting points, especially at near even-money. Also, the Chargers have failed to cover in 3 of their last 4 games.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 44 (-110).

The Chargers have gone Under the total in 9 of their last 10 games. The Broncos have gone Under in 6 of their last 7. This really surprises me when you see the offensive firepower that both of these teams have, but facts are facts. Over their last 3 games, both teams have held their opponents to under 20 points per game.

I'm going to ride the trends and play the Under in this one.
